Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 in which he enjoyed taking part in numerous card games when he was young. The real improvement in his skills began when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best gamblers would frequently wager against one another. He was able to access a number of the foremost players in chess. Howard also helped his sister Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was an excellent student of poker as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the correct choice. He told Annie to head out to Sin City and compete in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie is one of the greatest female players the poker arena ever. Howard headed to Sin City in 1993 and participated in money games for the subsequent 10 years. When the WPT gained popularity, he decided to compete in more tournaments.
