• Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve final game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While wagering on online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He often plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
