Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse feedback from others kill his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
