Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve closing table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts in the world. While participating in web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world might be players you have never heard about. Gus can be found gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes omaha high and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
