Stu is thought to be by most to the finest NL Holdem Poker player ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champ was born in New York in 1953 and started wagering poker prior to reaching his teens.

The young bettor started out betting gin and at the age of 10 had won his initial gin rummy tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the time he turned 14 the small poker maestro had turned professional and stopped going to school.

In ‘54 Stu Ungar entered the record books by winning 10,000 dollars in a gin tournament without losing a single hand, a record which still remains in New York today.

The quick speaking superstar has been likened, in poker terms, to sporting greats such as Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. Stu had a genuine talent for playing poker except in spite of his successes in Hold em poker, he favored betting gin.

Stu once said that there might several day be a better NL Hold em gambler than him except he could not see how anyone could ever be a improved gin player.

In 1980 Stu was put on the world map as one of the finest Hold em Poker gamblers in the entire world when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the first time. Astonishingly it was the very first time he had played in the tournament.

The following year he dismissed any suggestions that it had been luck, by successfully protecting his crown. And in ‘97 Stu set the record by succeeding his third World poker championship.

Except this poker master also fought with substance abuse and a year following succeeding his 3rd title Stu Ungar died in his hotel room. According to medical doctors, he had died from a heart attack which was caused by his lifestyle.

Stu had began with absolutely nothing but his skill and talent for the casino game which made this poker good a millionaire quite a few times over.
