• Focus on Annie Duke

    [ English | Deutsch | Español | Français | Italiano ]

Annie Duke might not have attained her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but Annie is one of the most feared poker players around the ring games at The Bellagio in Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP bracelet came with a win at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.

While players from the "younger generation" of poker go berserk after a huge win at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mommy" to her 4 children. She was born in NH and was raised into a family of card players. If you don’t believe that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, when he plays, who taught her how to compete in poker.

However, Annie Duke is not a small change girl and has earned her share of hard tables, including knocking out Howard a few times on several occasions.

Winning well over three million dollars in tournament play, Annie branched out to become a consultant to both UltimateBet and actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to sharpen his skills and become a power player at the poker table.

You might just glimpse Annie at the Bellagio, you will see her on the television and you might just even compete with her in a net poker game, but don’t count on a simple win. Unless you’re a rising star, you’ll not beat her. However, it is likely to be fun to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
