Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is frequently viewed as one of the most difficult but popular poker variations. Omaha 8 or better starts like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are handed out to each player. A round of wagering follows in which players can bet, check, or fold. Once all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, a further card is revealed on the turn. an additional sequence of betting happens and then the river card is revealed. The players will need to make the strongest high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.

Unlike Hold’em, where the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi-low the player has to utilize precisely three cards from the board, and precisely two cards from their hand. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot can be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is just what it sounds like. It’s the strongest hand out of everyone’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the very same notion in just about all poker games.

A lower hand is more complicated, but certainly free’s up the action. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no low hand presented, the higher hand wins the whole pot.
